HOW WE BUILT VERSION 6 OF OUR BMW G80 M3

Our love for the BMW G80 M3 is certainly no secret. What’s not to like about a 500bhp rear-wheel-drive German powerhouse? In fact, we love ours so much that we’re now on the sixth iteration of the build. So, what’s new this time around? Read more here in our latest blog post.

Most noticeably - I mean how could you miss it? - is the stunning Super Gloss Violet wrap from Inozetek. Taking inspiration from Porsche’s Ultraviolet, there’s no question our M3 is a true one-of-one, being the first G80 to be showcased in this gorgeous colour. This is no run-of-the-mill wrap job. Every inch of paint, including under the bonnet and inside the doors, is now completely coated in Inozetek vinyl - you’d be forgiven for thinking it’s paint.

In typical R44 fashion, the car received all the MHC+ carbon parts we could throw at it. The exterior is drowning in our industry-leading pre-preg carbon fibre styling upgrades. The latest addition that’s got us all excited is the new MHC+ GT-style grilles. It’s been a constant battle to keep these grilles in stock and we just HAD to secure a set for the latest rendition of the build.

And, how about those wheels… The West Forged x R44 Custom 1-piece forged alloy wheels finished in brushed hyper silver perfectly complement the purple exterior. The wheels are wrapped in sticky Michelin Pilot Sport 4S tyres for ultimate grip however, R44 owner Rhys likes to burn through these at an alarming rate. Most importantly, the MSS extra-low adjustable suspension management system gives the M3’s new shoes a flawless fitment, saying goodbye to the undesirable arch gap.

Don’t worry, it’s not all face and no trousers. 503bhp just wasn’t cutting it so we installed a tuning box from RaceChip, adding a staggering 140bhp and 110Nm of torque - no that’s not a typo. Also under the bonnet, we fitted a true state-of-the-art Armaspeed carbon fibre intake to inhale as much cool air as possible. Airflow is crucial for any turbocharged engine, especially the S58. This is why, at the other end, you’ll also find a well-conditioned R44 high-flow 300 cell downpipe connected to our lightweight R44 titanium race cat-back exhaust system, finished off with a set of aggressive carbon tailpipes. This setup has dramatically reduced back pressure, improving throttle response and, most importantly, NOISE!

The M3 doesn’t just go… it stops too. We’ve worked closely with EBC to develop some incredible 2-piece floating, drilled, grooved & vented brake discs, paired with EBC’s yellow stuff pads. With a vicious bite and minuscule stopping distance, the only way to stop faster would likely involve hitting a tree. We put this setup through extensive testing during our trip to the Nurburgring and it consistently blew us away.

I hope it comes across how incredibly passionate we are about the G80 platform - and we are committed to setting the bar higher at each stage. What do you think of our latest G80 M3 build? This is going to be a hard one to trump.
